Here’s the equipment they use.
A lot of their normal infantry weapons and ground vehicles are made by them selves but planes and such usually are bought from the US.

I want to know how US military health care really works. Are there long waiting lines up to a month long and is it good as health care that normal civilians get? Are there differences between active duty and veteran health care?

If you’re on active duty and you get up sick one morning, you report yourself to the Orderly Room and request to be put on sick call. You’ll be sent to a clinic within walking distance within minutes, or if you appear to be seriously ill, transported to said clinic or directly to the post’s hospital. There’s rarely a wait time. If you’re in need of special tests and exams, the preparation for those can take a couple days – and you’ll be on limited duty while you undergo the prep.

Veterans’ health care is quite another matter. Wait times for appointments can take months. There are multiple reasons – insufficient staff, including physicians, plagues most Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers. Some VA hospitals do a much better job of wading through the backlog of needs than others – the VA hospital in Syracuse, NY, where I get my care, is one of the good ones.
Yes, Syracuse has a few problems – a couple of the physicians I’ve had to deal with are absolute b*tches! …but I had no difficulty when I asked to be assigned to a different physician. And despite the often over-long wait times for appointments, the major veterans’ health centers do have an emergency room. The one at Syracuse is always well-staffed and fully prepared to deal with any emergency that comes through the doors. I’m sure there’s one near you…

I was wondering, what is the difference between the two designations attack & fighter in the US military? I mean the other designations like cargo and bomber i get, but attack & fighter i just dont know.

Attackers don’t fair so much a chance in Air-Air combat. But dominate the ground war. Fighters are more of air superiority and fight off other aircraft. In this war we don’t see much or any air-air combat. So the ground specific attackers (helicopters usually play bigger roles in here and UAV’s) such as A-10 Warthogs get the job done. F-18 F/A were designed also with these roles in mind. Really cool looking airplanes too. Have the maneuverability of attackers with the weapons of both.

Obviously there is some sort of political reason for this.

But what is it?

Since when does the US military go searching for minerals in foreign countries and advertise it to the world?

The political reason is very simple. Mining is a way to provide jobs and income to Afghanistan. Right now the country mostly survives on subsistance agriculture and their only real form of government revenue is foriegn aid. By developing mines in the country we not only bring in foriegn investment and jobs – but the government of the country can get significant income from leases and royalties.

In addition – people will get jobs working in the mines. This will mean that there are fewer people performing agriculture which means that it will become more profitable to grow crops for sale. As more food crops become profitable – there will be fewer opium poppies grown. Fewer opium poppies means less income for the Taliban which means less terrorism.

It is all about changing the economics of the country and encouraging people and companies to invest.

my youth group would like to community service which helps the US military troops. Is there anything we can do besides care packages and donating money?

Letters, letters and more letters. This is our fourth year adopting deployed soldiers, and they tell us that getting letters from home makes deployment more bearable and gives them strength during the hard times. If you want to do something even more personal, call your local VFW hall and/or VA hospital and see what volunteer opportunities are available with veterans. Here is a link to a wonderful organization, started by a military mom, that has all sorts of opportunities for involvement.

I read an article on Time I think about the US military declassifying information that they used special spyware programs to help track threats.

I can see that it makes the US military, FBI, CIA more transparent and accountable to the public but doesn’t it just show their hand to all the people who are a serious threat to US security?
Bratwurst: they have no choice, i think documents must be disclosed by a certain time period. US law.

Yes be transparent don’t hide Crimes behind national Security 10 years is more than enough I was classified and could not Divulge my Knowledge for 10 years after the Event

i had a CIA and MI5 top secret security clearance when i was posted to Germany after WW2 and some of the Documents and films i saw were went from UK USA eyes only to Secret and Top secret to hide some Crimes Committed By Eisenhower some of these documents were released in 2005 and some others from WW2 not until 2022 because some Idiot has something to Hide

if there is No secret to JFK assassination why wont the documents be released for 50 years

under some Obscure law documents can be classified Secret 50 years and Top secret 60 years this is wrong because it only protects the Guilty

we Now know Paton was Murdered and a sum of 10,000 was paid and the Guilty party’s are also dead

This is wrong National security is one thing but cover-ups are another

I believe if the US congress can Promote washington th a 6 star general in 1982 then they should Prosecute anyone that has committed a crime

even after they are dead if there was a cover up

10 years after any war tell us show us we did put our lives on the Line we have a Right to Know

I have been in contact with USAF and US Navy recruiters for the past couple of months, I would like to go into special operations. I am torn between the two, I just dont know how to make up my mind. I want to enlist but also would like to finish college and get my degree, is there anyway to get the best of both worlds, be in the military yet still obtain my college degree, excluding ROTC programs? Please advise, thanks.

If you don’t mind being at sea a lot, join the Navy. Otherwise, join the Air Force.
